Following its draft recommendations issued last month, the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) last week approved recommending that Congress freeze reimbursement for skilled nursing facilities (SNF) at current rates for fiscal year 2009.

It also voted to recommend establishing a pay-for-performance program for SNFs and approved recommendations for improving SNF quality measurements.
